Ladies and gentlemen - I write this to all of you who spend countless hours here reading and writing each other about your beloved Saabs. I used to own a 2001 9-5 Aero, but no more. After realizing that I too, was spending way too much time here, trying to figure out the various, and numerous problems with my car, I sold my Aero and do not have a single regret doing so. Let me explain, and ask yourself these same questions: Be truthful!
1. Did you buy your Saab because you were sold on the inherent superior technology, power vs economy, "Eurpoean craftmanship", safety, etc?
2. Did you come to realize that you were experiencing many small problems, especially in electronics?
3. Did you take your car to the dealership many times, under warranty? Did you have a pleasurable experience (nice loaner car, polite techs, etc)?
4. Did you get you car back repeatedly with "could not duplicate" customer's complaint??
5. Do you feel this is a continual cycle of problem, attempted repair, no solution? Just how many times have you had your relatively new car in the dealership??/ Lots, right???
I am a retired Army helicopter maintenance officer, and I am credible when I compare a Saab to a Blackhawk helicopter. Very advanced and complex machine, and also very much a maintenance-hog. This car, and saabs in general, promise much, but at a maintenance failure rate that is just too high to accept, especially when you pause to remember what you paid, and when similar class cars do much better at staying out of the repair lanes at the dealership.
I know, you really want to write me back and slam me for these sacreligious comments. But just be truthful, go back, look and the thousands of posts here from prople still trying to be satisfied with their Saabs, and you will agree with me - A Saab is a promise that is not completely fufilled.
I went through all of this.
