I leave it on always (I've got the auto box). What tires do you run? In most cases, the TCS light never comes on, occasionally, I will see it engage if I stomp on it from low speed or stopped when making a left/right turn onto a bumpy road, I've even seen it engage near 60mph in 2nd gear! Its usually a reminder that I'm exceeding the limits of the traction anyway, so I would not want to press further, and don't get me wrong, I don't usually go more than a couple of days without a wide-open-throttle acceleration in 1st or 2nd gear, so I'm no stranger to the TCS light. But if you're talking purely performance, I never see/feel the system engage when "drag racing" from a dead stop at a light on a more or less straight-away.
