Help w/ funky sputtering just after startup!

1990 900 base. This is weird - just after start up - cold or warm, if I drive off the car bogs and sputters for only about 30 seconds. Check engine light comes on but goes off after about 3 minutes. After the first 30 seconds the car drives great. During this idle is fine - no dips or surging. If I let the car idle and wait a bit before driving it works fine. I have to pull the codes this weekend and check the AMM burnoff and voltage, but wondered if anyone has other ideas. I thought if it is the AMM, that it would take the O2 sensor longer than 30 sec. to warm up and take over. These symptoms are very similar to when the coil/cap wire was shorting out at the coil in wet weather - except that made the idle surge up and down... Replace the wire and all has been fine.

On a similar note, the AIC has been fussy recently. When I come off the highway or accel the idle dips down to 500, but never kills. Cleaning the AIC every few months seems to help.

Over the past few months I've replaced the O2 sensor, full clean of AIC and throddle, no vac leaks and got a used AMM to swap for one that cooked.

Any enlightenment? I don't think its fuel, because there are no starting probs. Would the NTC be involved? Could my ECU have cooked two AMM's?
