The motor itself isn't failing but the cover to the sunroof gearbox (attached to the motor) is probably coming loose.

Open up the spare tire cover and look for 2 10-mm bolts along the back edge of the opening. Feel around under there and you'll find the cylindirical motor with a small gearbox to the left of it. The cover, located to be back, will probably be loose. The gearbox cover screws tend to loosen over the years.

To get to them, undo the 10-mm bolts and the motor/gearbox will move enough to get to the screws that hold the gearbox cover on.

You'll find the only non-metric fasteners in the whole car holding the cover on. Tighten them up and you're back in business. IIRC, they're 1/4" or something similar.
