I haven't seen 45's on a car, so I can't tell you exactly how they look - I only read about them looking small here when trying to decide what size tires to go with.

For specs on available springs, e.g., height, search “jamex” and “intrax” on this and the performance boards; shouldn't be too hard to find what you need.

As far as going lower, I don't have experience with springs other than the SPG's, but let's compare SPG springs + 205/50/16's with minimal, acceptable rubbing to the 205/45 setup.

Using a handy tire calculator (link below):

205/50/16 = ~24.1 in. diameter
205/45/16 = ~23.3 in. diameter

24.1 - 23.3 = .8 in. difference

.8/2 = .4 in. more clearance with 45’s.

So, going to a 205/45/16 - .4 in. more clearance - will allow you to use a spring ~1/2 in. shorter than your SPG springs. Total ride height will drop ~1 in. (take into consideration the quality of roads you drive on before going lower…).

I think you’ll be happy with the 205/50/16 & SPG spring set up. Looks good to me, a bit more aggressive. Maybe ask folks to post pics of both…. & if you get rubbing, try the conv. shim solution…

Last, I ended up getting Kumho 712 Ecstas, and am very happy with them. Maybe not the best tire out there, but for the money you can’t beat it. Was going to buy from Tirerack, but was bored at work & faxed a bunch of tire shops requests for price quotes, mentioning that I’d prefer to buy from them locally rather than via their competitors on the ‘net (I’m also cheap). One Discount Tire shop sold them to me @ their *online* web price (tires.com), which was $14/tire cheaper than their normal, in-the-shop price. Total came to be within a few bucks of what I’d have paid w/Tirerack & installation was hassle-free…
