First let me recap: A few weeks ago I replaced old, battered, possibly fouled O2 sensor with new generic Bosch because I suspected it as cause of lousy warm idle (few months back I cleaned throttle body & AIC). I had been having few, intermittent CE lights that always went away, but crappy warm idle.

Since I've installed the new one, the CE light is always on - the car actually runs fairly well, tending to idle a little on the high side, sometimes hanging up at 1500 before dropping to 900 - 1000, sometimes cycling from 900 - 1500 and back.

I've reinstalled the new O2 3 times now - today removed sensor and wire harness, removed insulation to ensure wires were intact, carefully solder/spliced in the new O2, carefully reinstalled with helper turning to avoid any twisting, protected tip of sensor at all times.

I've checked and cleared codes several times - when the light comes back, the codes I get are "air-fuel mix too lean" and "O2 sensor self-compensating circuit problem (incorrect air-fuel ratio while driving)."

I checked AMM burn off - OK. I have checked/rechecked vaccuum hoses - seem fine, have some new ones and new grommets on the car. I have no reason to suspect fuel pressure problem.

The car has actually run mostly well and idled more consistently, albeit a bit high, since I swapped in the new O2. What else could be wrong causing the CE light to be on and the fault codes? Anything else I should check?

Thanks,

SDBWORKS
