Well, I found an 88 900 turbo convertible that actually is a Springtime in Sweden and it is so cheap. It has the plaque, but that is where the good news ends. I think the car needs too much work.

First off, its an automatic. Bummer. Tranny seems fine though. 3/4 of car has been repainted and has a terrible paint job. I think it may have been hit. Prelim search of Carfax says that there are 3 entries in the database, but I didn't order the full blown report yet. Black paint on the SPG panel rubber strips means they didn't even bother to take them off to repaint. Roof is totally shot, leaking, water in car. Both front seats have a blown seam across the middle, headgasket need replacing (frothy coolant and milky oil). Turbo is probably on the way out. Lots of blue smoke on first time boosting. Current owner has had for 4 years, only did oil changes, no other maintenance. Tires are ok. One little tiny rust spot near one of the SPG panels inside door opening. Cracked windshield, and list goes on.

I am so bummed. If it is wasn't for the paint job I would buy it. I would have had a SIS (1 of 288) and 93 Commerative Edition (1 of 325) in the garage. Now that is a combo.

Best case the car needs $3000 worth of work. Worst case more like $5000 and that is with all DIY labor.

Should I just suck it up and own a piece of history or wait for a better car to come along.

thoughts, suggestions??

Brian
