Some information I was able to find out....

With the 16V turbo, the fuel rail pressure regulator works on differential pressure between the manifold and fuel rail. I.E. their pressure ratio remains the same. Therefore I can guess that when the manifold pressure is less, less fuel line pressure is required....and may be the bad bearings on the fuel pump will allow this lower head pressure to be developed by the pump.

Second....it looks like SAAB was really playing around with the fuel pump designs with Bosch when they were introducing the 16V in the 85 turbo. It appears two pumps were originally made for it. It started as a 0-580-464-024 assembly number but was replaced with 0-580-464-037 later. The number is supposed to be stamped on the side of the pump as explained by Jim.

But one vendor lists that both of these numbers which includes chasis numbers up to -G7021035 and -G2016980 would now use a E3000-13839 (Bosch #...?) Another vendor lists #93-67-798 as the replacement for the 0-580-464-024 but also a #93-92-011 "FOR ALL" 85-86 16V turbos. I do not know if the #93-92-011 is actually the Bosch E3000-13839 listed by the other vendor as the "FOR ALL" replacement. All these parts are Bosch original numbers...
