Tranny - shifting question/followup (URGENT)

All-

The old post rolled off so I had to start another post. I'm having problems
downshifting to lower gears from 5th (at highway speeds - 40+ mph). I have
a new tranny with only 30k on it and I haven't dogged it. It shifts up with
out any problems and I can only downshift if moving around 10mph. It does
not grind, I simply can't downshift at highway speeds.

I removed the shifter today as someone mentioned a rubber piece that could
be worn. I simply don't see any rubber piece. I will try any upload a pic
once I get my daughter's camera working (nothing fancy just a kids camera).

One post mentioned lifting up on the shifter to see if it helps. If this is
the case, is it a matter of adjusting the ball on the lower part of the
shifter? I don't have the technical specs of where that ball should be set,
typically I drive it and check the feel and simply adjust until perfect but
today there's a lot of snow and that's not an option.
