Another convert in the making?

Maintenance may not be as straightforward as, say, a B230F, but it is accessible.
I shy away from the automatics- learned that once, but if you posess basic mechanical skills, run it until the slushamatic fails and swap it. It is a 250,000 km gearbox. (opinion kicks in again) I think it is a waste of gas, money, and weight because it was sooo slow.
Then again, a 5 speed that has been mishandled won't last either.
All this being said, if you get a 900 that has been driven appropriately and maintained, you're going to purchase a fine piece of engineering. Sure, I have the Volvo high mileage club badges too, but look at the list of high mileage Saabs on this board. I'm not even on there because the car's only at 168k right now.
On your first drive after you buy the car, get the Bentley manual.
And definitely get the car inspected by a mechanic. It's your right, either on site or off. Don't get fooled by the "luxury" bit; a classic 900 is not an expensive car to buy unless you go through a dealer.
And boy are they safe... I say 900s crash as well as a 240. I've done both.
Cheers
