After searching past messages for the last hour, I think I need to just ask some questions. While sitting at a light, all of a sudden my clutch pedal lost all pressure. The shop said it was the master-slave line that blew out, so they replaced, but then said the pressure was erratic and wouldn't hold. They suggested a new master cylinder for $400, but stated this might not fix anything and could then lead to a $600-700 clutch/slave job. I said screw it and drove it home. I have a parts '86 900T in the garage, so I pulled the master, and rebuilt/installed it. I bled the system using the bike tube method, which seemed to work well... until I tried the clutch.

Now, no pressure at all. Not on pumping, nor holding down. Tried the bleed again w/no results. Decided to take it to a diff. shop and was driving it over. Question 1: In other manual cars I have owned, I was able to shift sans clutch, but once out of 2nd, no other gear could be acheived except for fifth. Any ideas why?

Well, I was on a 65mph hwy for ~5min when I noticed that I now had pressure in the pedal. Sweet. Thought maybe I just didn't get all the air out when bleeding. So I turn around to go back home, and the clutch seems fine. EXCEPT, now 2nd grinds going in. Fairly bad. No problem in any other transition, just from 1st to 2nd. Question 2: Any ideas about what is going on now? I thought about the slave, but I can't see any leaking, and I thought slipping was the symptom for the slave.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance.
