I get 21 MPG and spend about 1300/year in upkeep....

And I admit upkeep includes MHI TE05 turbo I didn't really need, JT downpipe I could have lived without, etc.... A well maintained older car is cheaper than a new car payments wise, and as I spend about $1000/year in gasoline, any fuel savings might only add up to 200 dollars. I might actually spend more in gasoline if I bought an SUV.

Show me a car I can get that is as safe as my 900TC, as fast as my 900TC, as well optioned as my 900TC, as affordable on insurance as my 900TC, and as much fun as my 900TC for a monthly rate of only $120 plus gasoline!

Besides, there is a mystique to driving a well maintained older car. I also have a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 4 speed 10'th anniversary Ltd Ed, a 1975 Pontiac Bonneville Broughm, and a 1971 'vette. Perhaps I should also trade those in on some face-less, name-less, personality-less Japanese or American carbon copy car.
