At 98,000 miles, the engine must be almost run in. If you have auto transmission, you might have a few problems in the next 20-30K miles if it has been abused in the past and not maintained well. Then again, some autos mentioned here have gone well over 200K without transmission problems.

My '87 2.0T (manual) had 200K on it when I sold it. Only problem I can recall was the odd puff of blue smoke (turbo oil seals, I think). The '97 2.3T engine and manual transmission, I believe, can only be more resilient still.
Disregard the fact that I did my '96 Aero engine in at 140K miles through what I now realise was seriously abusive driving. For any sensible driver, these engines are virtually unbreakable. 200K and beyond doesn't seem unreasonable for engine life. I'm at 162K now and can't comprehend ditching the car in the forseeable future.

Some ancillaries and gadgets can fail after a while, but at 98K, I think the car has paid its way enough to warrant a few minor repairs.

Which parts are you particularly worried about?
