Marcus, you left out the most important piece of information. How's the ac cooling? Are you hot?

The pressure switch should cut out the compressor long before you hit the relief valve. If you are getting drops of oil at the relief valve, that would indicate a fairly significant leak because it takes a lot of escaping refrigerant to produce that much oil. Of course, it is always possible that something else could have splashed onto the compressor. If the relief valve had released, you would have noticed. Also, if you lost that much refrigerant, you will be hot in the car. If you are hooking up a gauge to check pressure, that would explain the oil.

Sweating on the suction line is fine as long as it's not freezing up. Freezing is an unmistakeable condition, so if you are thinking that you are not sure if it's freezing, it's not.

Adding the condensor fan makes a huge difference in operating pressures. Enormous. Cleaning the condensor with soap and a garden hose is also helpful.

I do not completely understand what you are saying about temperature fluxuation. The expansion valve will open and close to maintain a steady temperature in the evaporator, and low side pressure will move correspondingly. However, this movement will only be a few psi and is gradual up and down. I really doubt that this fluxuation would have a noticeable effect on the ACC.

The heater core mixture flap will move as interior temperature changes, but it should not be dancing. This would indicate an ACC problem to me, rather than an ac problem. A bad interior air sensor (cabin airflow sensor) can produce wierd symptoms. Did you try recalibrating the ACC? I assume it's not doing this on "LO". Maybe a more detailed description of what is going on would be helpful.

The AC probably had very little, if anything, to do with the engine temperature going up the hill.

Didn't they not install one of the ac service ports on your car? I can't remember, but I bet it was the high side. Saab now uses a hose set for the Sanden compressor that has the high side port right on the hose. I don't know whether this hose could be made to fit your 92 or not. 92 was an oddball year for the 9000 AC system. One of the people here who got a Sanden SD7H15 to replace an SD709 took the back of the 709 and put it on the 7H15 to get both ports. Do you still have the old compressor?
