I have been a cellular phone addict for around a decade
now, and have gone through stages with various equipment.

My latest iteration has been a Nokia 5165 that I use with
a dash mounted holder, a charger cord and an earbud; this
keeps the phone safely reachable and visible while driving.

We had a cold snap lately, and the RTV I had the holder
attached with got so cold that it just let go. Bummer.

I had collected all the parts to install an OEM car kit
(CARK-91) previously, and just never got around to it -
this was the push I needed.

After considering the positions and possibilities, I
decided I really did not wish to drill any holes in the
dash or console, and looked around for alternate options.

Here is why I have bothered to post this:
I found that a large binder clip, the kind that are black
spring steel with chrome plated 'arms', is just the
perfect size and strenth to clip on to the console just
to the right of the radio, and to hold the aluminium
plate I mounted all the components to.

Second - the kit requires the use of an external antenna.
I was able to re-use the old mag mount 'pigtail' type
antenna I had from a previous unit, and this is notable -
where I live is mostly a cellular 'dead zone' - usually
I have to get about 4 miles away to get a usable signal;
but with this kit/antenna I am able to get signal in all
but one little spot - this is a first !

Additionally, I have lusted after one of these since I
spoke with a friend that had one, and could not tell he
was on a speakerphone at all - but they were very pricey
at the time.
They can now be had for a mere fraction of the original
price - and I highly recommend them.

Honestly - I thought I was too old to fall in love again,
but this is really testing that theory !!

One last piece of trivia:
The wee booklet that comes along with the kit has a line
drawing on it's cover of a car's cockpit from the
driver's POV - guess which car they used ?
OK, big deal - Swedish company, Swedish car, right ?
I think it's cute.

Best Wishes,

mark
