TCS LHM in '93 cars, another culprit...

Noticed a loss of power over the pasrt few months, then started going into TCS LHM mode more and more often. Replaced and inspected all vacuum hoses, safety valves, even disassmbled the throttle body and cleaned it up a bit.

BUT the cause of both symptoms turned out to be a number of splits had developed in the large rubber elbow that connects the intercooler to the throttle body. Saab wants ~140$ for this piece of rubber, silicone is available for around half that, I decided to fix mine with black adhesive gasket maker and duct tape.

Result: no more LHM and FULL BOOST is back. Actually the car has never been this fast. When the ECU was upgraded (stg 3) over a year ago I suspect there was a small boost leak then as well. The car is just insanely fast and boost is so reliable with the repair I just did coupled with a new Forge BPV.

To sum up: Be aware of boost-side leaks in the system and TCS LHM being linked. Inspect the rubber boot! For reliable boost with modified cars, strongly consider the Forge BPV, the stocker will fail you eventually above ~18-20psi. That is all. Happy Saabing everyone. -AMG
