Could well be the throttle position sensor

Reason being that the TCS uses this in its feedback loop as it controls the "fly-by-wire" throttle. If it detects that this is bad, it knows it can't do its job accurately, lights the light and switches off.
In a way, it was fortunate that this sensor is also monitored by Trionic, so you could read the flashes.

However, I don't know whether the signal goes directly to Trionic, or through the TCS module. I think it goes directly, and the info is on http://www.townsendimports.com, but I can't get there at the moment (it goes away from time to time). I know the sensor on cars with TCS (digital output) is different from those without (analogue output).
If the sensor signal goes straight into Trionic, then you have your answer: since Trionic detected a problem, the sensor (or the wiring) is bad. Since TCS also detected a problem, this discounts a faulty Trionic that can't see the sensor.

Keep trying Townsend. There is a section on Trionic and its various sensors and the TPS is in there.

As a final note: from memory, past posts here seem to indicate that TCS problems are caused by sensors and valves. Although I may be mistaken, I don't remember many posts about having to replace a TCS control module (Don's case is a bit unusual).
