Okay, just tried to jumpstart it, no difference. I've pretty much narrowed it down to fuel and spark being the problems. Examining the facts:

1. It's probably not the battery, as proven by trying to jumpstart it and the fact that I had it tested a month ago and it was fine.
2. I just had the airbox off for the short belt mod and it's clear (it did this before AND after shortbelt mod, so I know I didn't accidentally affect something in the process).
3. The fact that it only does this under 32F and goes away once I put a hairdryer on it makes me think that water is involved somehow.
4. What other electrical components can fail under 32F but perform normally above? I'm thinking it might be water in the distributor cap that's freezing...but would that persist for 3 weeks on and off? Is it worth investigating this?
5. By far the most likely is water in the fuel system somewhere. Where can water get to and stay stuck for weeks? It's obviously somewhere in the engine compartment and probably towards where I had the hairdryer on the passenger side near the back of the engine. Is there any other line that could freeze there? Are there any valves/switches/sensors that can go bad that can cause an interruption in fuel or a blockage when it gets below 32F? I did notice that once I do get it started, it struggles for a few minutes then all of a sudden, like a blockage has cleared, the revs jump to almost 2000 then stabilize.
6. It's not related to cranking the engine, the engine turns normally and strongly and all dashboard lights/instruments are working fine so it's not the ignition.
7. Would the fuel pump or filter clog or fail only under 32F? Could water be stuck in either of these? This is doubtfully the cause because the fuel pump is near the back of the car...too far to be affected by a blowdryer at the front.
8. This all started happening all of a sudden one night after I left it with less than a gallon of gas left in it. It never did it before and has done it irregularly since.

So it's most likely something concerning water and either the fuel system or the electrical system. Any ideas? Would getting that spray start stuff you spray into your air intake help, and is that even safe for a fuel injected car?

Now that I'm at college and parked in a parking lot, there's absolutely no way I'm getting a blowdryer out there. Is there a such thing as a battery operated blowdyer? I've tried those warming pads for skiers and just pouring hot water over the gas lines, and both had too little (but some!) of an effect (and I didn't want to dump too much water down the back of my engine). Any other ideas for warming the engine without lighting a fire under my car?

I'm about at my wits end about this, and with Stephanie's reply about having the same issue after replacing $2000 of parts, I'm getting kind of worried! ANY help or input or analysis would be greatly appreciated, as I loved my first SAAB up until this point and I would hate for it to be my last because of this!
