I can't imagine repairing the oil pan. Because of the labor involved, if you ever had problems again you'd kick yourself for not replacing it the first time around Replace it with a good used pan or a new one.

You have to drop the subframe to remove the oil pan on both the 4 cylinder and the V6, which isn't the same as removing the motor. While technically simple the work is involved, however. You remove the exhaust header pipes (and oxygen sensors). Then you need a hoist or engine support beam (yoke) as you will be removing a couple of the engine mounts. The tranny stays in on one mount and will be a partial source of support. See what Anders told me about it in the link below. Also check your manuals but I think you'll need a high value torque wrench for the subframe bolts.

I have a post on this for the V6 engine which will give you some information. See linked post below. Two key differences: the V6 pan is regular old stamped steel and it uses a gasket. The aluminum pan on the 4 cylinder engines uses a liquid sealant or "gasket maker." I think it may be more durable as many of the V6 oil pans begin to leak around the gasket with age.
