Hey Alexandros,

The surest way to test for air-tightness is to use a small hand-held vacuum pump. You can pick up one of two models from Sears for either $40 (plastic) or $50 (metal). (Or maybe borrow one from a neighbor who does their own brake fluid changes?) Then you pull off the skinny (2mm) vacuum hose from the Bosch unit & attach the pump's hose. My 2mm hose was also pretty dry & stuck, but I sprayed it with a diluted Windex solution & gently pushed the edges of the hose up with a small screwdriver. After a few circles around the fitting it started to move & I was able to twist it right off. My Bosch valve needs about 17 in/Hg before it's fully opened, but starts to open somewhere around 10 in/Hg. You could try maybe 15? If you also detach the 25mm hose from the side port, then you can see how far it opens & when it starts/stops. Let the vacuum just sit there for at least 30 seconds (a long time when you're just sitting there) & see if the gauge moves. If you're hearing noise, it'll probably start dropping immediately. Then you just need to decide if you want to spend $25-$30 on a new sealed throw-away Bosch unit, or $100+ for a rebuildable lifetime unit. The Bosch valves should probably be considered a maintenance item, like plugs & belts. Since you can't open them up to check them, you need to decide if you want to spend the money on a vacuum pump (which you can use for other things like brake fluid changes) or just throw out the old valve & replace it.

I've read that some folks simply suck on the 2mm hose, but I didn't try that. I think if it's a small enough hole, it may seem okay but still be "passing gas" under boost conditions.

Let me know if my info's confusing or incomplete.
