I've been lurking on this newsgroup for over a year and have been a wannabe Saab owner for almost 15 years (since I was in high school). I had saved up enough to put a large downpayment on a new Vector (6 spd, Steel Grey, all options except heated seats). As far as I was being told, there were only two 03 Steel Grey Vectors left in all of California - one down south and one up north. After much haggling between two dealerships, I got a deal from B&B Saab that I couldn't refuse (thanks to Alex and Kenny). Since I live in Southern California (South OC) which is 400 miles away, I decided to buy a one way ticket into San Jose and drive it home.

I set off on my drive along Rte 1. I've never done this drive before and didn't feel like going through the Central Valley. I couldn't imagine how dirty the car would have gotten. Let's just say I was awestruck. It felt like I was in a Saab commercial all my very own. The one-lane road through Big Sur takes you along winding roads right next to huge cliffs that literally fall into the ocean with waves crashing against them. You look to one side and see hawks/eagles/pelicans hovering in the wind currents. Look to the other side and there are rolling hills. There were times when I felt I must be dreaming. Let alone the fact that I'm experiecing all of this in my brand new Saab.

There were many odd looks from people when I had told them I was going to take the 9+ hour drive home and put so many miles on my car on it's first day of ownership. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
