The leak is coming from the head gasket joint which is below the valve cover. I only wish that a valve cover gasket would solve this problem.
So far saab has offered a small courtesy credit (which I politely refused) that would still mean that this problem if fixed by my local dealer it would still cost approx. $500 more than an independent shop would charge for the same work. Why I should reward the dealer who did not fix the problem while under warranty by allowing them to continue to work on my car is beyond me.
I'm not giving up, but saab america cust. service has not called me back in two days, so I'm not feeling all warm and fuzzy about them at the moment either.
