I posted about some tranny problems here:

The dealer agrees, the clutch is not disengaging. He says, the problem is not the shifter linkage alignment. He says there is no air in the hydrolics -- I had them bleed the lines, no help. He says the clutch is not slipping, but he says not all clutch wear causes slippage, so it could be a clutch wear problem, which is not covered by warranty. He says he cannot diagnose the problem without dropping the tranny. And with the tranny out, he can say whether or not this is a warranty issue or a wear issue.....at which point, it would either be all free, or I would need the clutch replaced (and anything affected by the clutch) for an estimated $1300 total.

I need to know -- what else could be wrong? I am surprised a clutch could wear out and not slip. And what other diagnostics could they do prior to dropping the tranny? I am hesitant to take the car elsewhere, in case it is a warranty item (all free). But I am hesitant to give him the go-ahead (b/c of cost). It is a 2001 Vigg with 64,000 -- should they have picked up on this problem 4,000 miles ago at my 60k service? Lastly, what does a typical Indy charge to replace the full clutch assembly? Is it much less than $1300?
