Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with recall SAAB recalls?
I have a 2001 SAAB 9-3. The other day while I was driving it, it started gushing gasoline. Luckily someone on the sidewalk yelled to me calling my attention to this potentially deadly problem. As it goes, the brackets holding the delivery hoses onto the fuel pump failed.

Ironically enough, there is a recall notice for this very same problem. (NHTSA Recall ID Number: 04V557000)

I called up SAAB and they said that my car wasn't covered in this recall (thank you, buh bye). I ended up calling a local SAAB dealer and they gave me a better explaination. Only X amount of cars were covered by this recall and mine wasn't one of them. Fair enough ... but the mechanic did say that in my CARFAX report, it shows that I had a new fuel pump installed before the original point of sale.

I wondering if SAAB installed this fuel pump with a fualty bracket (it sure sounds like it). If so, how can I get SAAB to admit this? I mean ... the car was gushing gasoline. I've never had any problems with my car. I've never had any work done to the gasline/gas tank/etc. If this was an "oh, it's leaking oil" kind of problem, I definitely wouldnt actively persue this.
