1997 900S 2.3L 5 speed manual
Several years ago my a/c fan failed to kick in when I engage the A/c switch in the center console.
I figured the fan resistor blew and ordered a new one But before I could give the shop the new fan resistor they had installed a "universal" by pass switch ( chamberlin (( i think)) P/N 4003647-01 which has a probe that takes the temp thru the radiator (or exchanger) fins as a work around.

several years ago they asked me do I "want low or high speed fan?" I said High speed because without high my A/C wont cool. So i only had 1 speed _high no more low to high.

They had clipped the green wire from the fan.
there were 2 fuse sockets in the new "kit box" which now holds a 30 and a 40 amp fuse. The 30 A/C has burned up 2-3 times of the last several years and I immediately see it on my dash temp sensor. I carry extra 30s as a rule. I eventually had to buy a larger reserve time battery as in the summer the constant cooling fan cycling took the life out a lower reserve battery.

So this week

while running a/c ( it was 94F outside) and stopped at a light, i heard to pop and saw some vapor blow out the engine compartment, pulled of the road and opened the hood. Lots of green fluid on the compressor side lower radiator and i noticed that same green fluid leaking out the lower front grill by the fog lights.

It wasnt antifreeze and the temp guage was in the middle and my coolant reservoir was full. I figured it was Pag oil from the A/C system I waited a while then drove home no problem but no a/c ( not sure if the fan even ran but it was no stops or traffic).
Brought the car to a local shop (there are no saab fixers around here) - which reluctantly looked at my " saab".

The next day and after several hundred bucks out of pocket I found that the 30AMP fuse had melted along with some of the socket.
He told me that the compressor relief valve had "released" from too much pressure,he had evacuated the a/c system and recharged it and installed a new 30AMP fuse holder - the fan ran at operating temp but he said the fan wont come on if I stop at a light with the "a/c button engaged".
So no usable A/C why? he couldnt say. So I figure that universal switch kit box something therein got fried. But I dont know what to make of it.
I've found that P/N above with reference to Hayden Electric Fan Controls 3647

Part Number: HDA-3647

So it may be the same (chamberlin) switch ~$40. I'm on my own in trying to solve this and would appreciate guidance. I dont know that other part in this story could have caused the fan speed issue in the first place 4-5 years ago let alone alone the bypass which now doesnt work single speed for the A/C.

I can take pictures of what is in there now but cant post. there's 2 thin wires to the + and - battery terminals and then some that pickup 2 of the fan leads ( green is clipped off). And a fat red wire from the kit's 30Amp socket that takes power from, outboard of the battery, a covered black fuse box (with several 60amps fuses in it).

thanks for your patience (I know its long)
