I have driven both the 9-5 and the LS (my folks have one). I would pick the 9-5 every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

But we cannot deny the fact that what GM is doing is using the Opel/Saturn platforms for all new Saab models. The new 9-3 will be the same.
This seems to be a general trend as Ford is doing the same thing at Jaguar with the X-type and S-type, and maybe the same soon at Volvo??? We'll see.

Case in point...the 9-5 IS based on the Opel Vectra Platform, as is the LS Saturn. So in FACT, the platform was "souped up" to become the more refined 9-5 that you describe. The V6 in the Saturn and the 9-5 is basically the same Opel engine...the Saturn even uses Bosch FI and almost all Bosch electronics.

Sorry I offended you so much....it was not my intent to offend anyone.
I did not bash the LS...I think it is a nice car in its own class.
I was trying to say that if the 9-5 is any example of how the GM/Saab relationship is going to go....then I think its the best thing that's ever happened to Saab.
