It is 62 degrees today. Better in you driveway with a cold beer! We ger blow zero a week ago or so. That was fun. I was just at the parts place getting a PuroOne filter for the 9-5. There was a guy who was installing a new battery. I asked how things went with batteries in the cold snap. He said that they sold over 20 batteries one afternoon and evening. I bet that was fun. They install out side in the cold. i am sure the fingers were getting cold and fumbly.

I have bashed my self up pretty good a few times. You get a metal for this one!

Here is a good one, no blood. Old clunker, winter beater. Brakes fail and fixing them at in'laws cottage where the beast spent the summer rusting out. So I put in new brake lines and rebuild the rear drum brakes. I tore down the slave cylinders and honed them out with wet/dry sandpaper with warmn water and detergent. Works great... so far. Rinse and shake dry and pop into a hot oven to bake out. Later I yank them out, quite warm they are mind you, and there is a film of flash rust after the iron was brightened up. Grabbed one with an oven mitt, spy the rust film and quicky brush it out with a finger. Grab the next one, do the same, finger gets stuck in the hot iron! Well I was very vocal and got the cylinder under some water, but the damage was done, and the cylinder got wet again too :(

I got my figer out after a bit. A 360 degree blister. I did a small number of asprin and a lot of wiskey. What so you ask... yes it was my middle finger :)

So the next time up I finished the work. The bleed screws were not comming out, nothing new there. There was snow, so I got towed into town by dad-in-law and he talked his legion hall drinking bud to let me use some space for free. So I got the brake line and cylinder in place, easy enough. And the mechanic was looking over his shoulder not getting in the way to much. Then he sees me sticking a pin into the piston cup-to-cylinder interface. And I used that to bleed the brakes. He scratched his head and said he had never seen anthing like that before in his life, and I told him I had never seen a bleed screw that would ever come out. So I got that beast back on the road and have a silly story to tell.

So you now have a war story to tell as well. And hopefully as we get old, we get wiser too!

I hope that you mend as well. I did my dam'dest to loose some fingers and arms, but I still have them, scars and all.
