Hm, if the '87 9000 motor was the same 2.0 liter with the same power as the 900 motor of the time,

I believe the 'top end' motor offering had about 175hp and 201 ft lb torque.

probably my '86 900T had more like a 165 hp, 185 ft lb engine, and my '87 SPG had a little more, like 170 or 175 hp, maybe the full 201 ft/lb, too.

Anyway, I think everything goes together.

Filter, a couple horsepower.

Turbo, lots of power, but only with new filter, new exhaust, new fuel pressure regulator, and preferably rising rate fuel pressure regulator and new injectors and new ECU.

Cat back, great, if you are blowing that much air, otherwise couple hp.

chip again, maybe something great is possible, but probably only with new APC, new fuel system, new turbo, new intake, new exhaust.

The 2.0 liter saab engine is a work of engineering when it comes from the factory.

My '87 SPG has the following:

Group 6 APC (yeah, an old one I guess), 3.0 bar FPR, cat back MSS exhaust (nice), K&N filtercharger, and a slight upgrade turbo, cold BCP7EV plugs, magnecor wires, nothing too fancy.

Oh, sorry, also it has a blown head gasket and is waiting for repairs. I could still blast the power if I chose to, but I'm just waiting to get it fixed. Hey, it is really fun when it's working. I would estimate, based on my experiences with stock turbo saabs, slightly modified stock turbo saabs, and my SPG, that with all it's modifications, my SPG gets more like... oh, say... maybe... 200 hp, and ... 225 ft lb torque... This might be a lofty estimate. If so, sorry. It sure hauls when it's all working. But, it really doesn't stay working as long as stock 900 turbo 16 valve 2.0 liter engines do, in my experience. Sure is fun though.
