Well, there are some folks in tire and front end shops who are not, shall we say, overly bright or respectfull of peoples vehicles.

I got my snow tires, on steel rims balanced, and they mounted the LH wheels using the impact wrench only, I caught them, and then the guy said he did not even know where the 'torque stick' was. A torque wrench was not used. Soon my brakes were pulsing. I retorqued the wheels at home, they were really tight, and with the steel wheels the tigheness continues as you back off the bolts...

So they fixed the problem by turning my new rotors. Now tell me who should be taking offence!

Torque sticks are longish flexible drive extensions that are meant to flex and defeat the ratcheting action of the impact wrench at a certain torque. First the wrench jockey needs to pick one up, second it needs to be the correct one, and thirdly, I am less than convinced that these are worth a d@mm.

I went to the shop because they had Hunter 9700 balancing machine, and the whole exersize was spoiled by someone who clearly did not care about doing a job properly. Am I pointing a finger at repair and maintenance people in general. No. The man who worked on my brakes to make things right was an absolute pleasure to watch. He was a craftsman! I would trust him with anything.
