headgasket replacement?
Posted by Narayan Nayar (more from Narayan Nayar) on Wed, 3 Nov 1999 18:12:30
Hello.
I've got a 1992 900s and I've recently discovered oil in the coolant reservoir. My mechanic told me he's 99% sure it's a ruptured head gasket or possibly a cracked head. He flushed the cooling system and told me to drive it for a while to see if oil reappears in the reservoir.
Out of curiosity, does this happen often? Is a new head gasket in all Saab owner's futures? If so, what does it cost to replace? (my mechanic said around $1k).
Thanks
