ORANGE, CONNECTICUT -- The top-of-the line Saab for 1978, the Saab 99 GLE, of furs full versatility -- luxury sedan seating and styling, and load carrying ability far larger than in most sedans.
Front-wheel-drive and hatchback styling has been cited as the trend for future automotive designs. The 1978 Saab GLE offers it right now -- front-wheel-drive for handling and performance, and hatchback styling which allows lots of space for large loads.
Special features in the GLE model include aluminum alloy wheels, luxury upholstery, head rest cushions for both front and rear seats, and electrically controlled outside rear view mirrors. An optional sliding steel sunroof is available.
When not used for passengers, the rear seat can be folded down to open up a flat six feet long cargo floor, easily reached through the big rear opening. The saab line for 1978 includes the top-of-the line GLE version; the sporty EMS -- for 197: in a three-door model with full convertibility -- and the GL models in both two-: throe- and five-door configurations.
