Often, they sell a reasonable snow tire/rim package. It's more expensive than steel rims plus snows, but they're nice rims and nice snow tires. In my Viggen, I've only been stuck once, and that was when another FWD car was sliding down a hill and I was slowly cruising up the hill, and an SUV went in between us, causing me to stop. I had to back down the hill and go back up, but it was fine with speed.
