I have an '03 9-3 SS Arc and my gut tells me that three rugby players will not fit comfortably in the back of the 9-3 SS. I think they could fit but it would be tight (shoulder to shoulder, middle position especially uncomfortable). Two players could fit comfortably. Your 9000 just has a larger interior. I am only 5'11" but where I like to keep the driver's seat does not leave a lot of legroom for a rear passenger. Fortunately, my only rear passenger is my 6 year old son. That being said, the new 9-3 SS is a fantastic car and I would go for it if you can do without regularly carrying three people in the back. My wife's Expedition Eddie Bauer- now THAT would comfortably fit three rugby players in the back!
