You'll actually be better off than your V6 friend. The turbo increases air flow to the engine to allow for performance similar what you have experienced at lower levels. I've traveled at high altitude several times with my turbo and it almost feels as if you have more power though I'm sure this is not true. As for fuel (in the US anyway) octane blends tend to be lower in mountain locations, so just make sure that you are using an octane level that meets the requirements for your engine.
