I didn't want to take my dash apart so I bought the belkin auto kit for the ipod. It plugs into the socket next to aux input and you can run a short cable from the belkin charger to the aux input. I then ran the cable that goes to the ipod under the rubber coin slot and under the armrest to the smartslot. I did have to make a hole in the bottom of the smart slot to accomodate the cord. I then mounted an ipod holder to the removeable cover of the smart slot. I used a cup mounted holder from belkin and modified it. It's nice in that there is only one small cord that runs out the back of the smartslot cover to the ipod. It's not as good as view as mounting to the dash but to me was easier.
