My standard boilerplate on this one is that when you visit a site like this, the focus is always on problem solving - that's when you ask a question or make a post. Very rarely do we get a post saying, "everything's great with my Saab' - when things are going well, there's nothing to ask about, so to speak. If there were big problems, you'd see a lot more problem solving traffic - it would pretty much overrun the boards, but the current traffic is that of a pretty good car which has, like every other model, some things that tend to go wrong more than others, if you happen to experience a problem. I have a 1999 9-3 that's been rock solid perfect except for a failed DI through 90,000 miles. If you read this board, you'll find that the DI is a common issue. However, if truly every Saab owner that you know personally has had a lot of car trouble - well, if every single person who I knew personally who had ever bought a Netgear wireless router had trouble, which is the case, I wouldn't buy a Netgear wireless router, and I didn't, I bought a Linksys...
A long way to say, these are great cars, but they are cars... cars need maintenance. If you like to be worry free, then focus on a one that has a warranty.
Good luck,
-Scott
