First you have to understand the US vs European mentality. Saab USA has been at odds with the Swedes for years about the audio systems. The one concept they can't seem to grasp is that you can't have too much horsepower and too much bass.
The 9-3 Sedan's audio software does not send bass tones to the rear as we are use to. Instead it sends them to the front door speakers. The rear parcel shelf speakers are just mid range and tweeters. If you swap out speakers don't bother with 6x9 in the rear. It only makes it worse. I THINK there was a software update issued in early 2004 for the Electronic Head Unit EHU. Call the dealer and start here before investing in speakers. While they are updating have them 'add' the AUX to the EHU while you are there. This will enable you to install the cable for an MP3 or XM radio.
