I have heard of that before but cannot find info about it in the Saab manuals right now.
On top of the fuel pump is two lock tabs that locks the fuel pressure and return line in place. It is possible that the lock tab for one of the lines have broken off.
This system has been in use since about 93 on all Saabs and on all 90-92 where the fuel pump assembly have been replaced.
90-92 had a little bit more fool proof design from factory but they changed it over to this snap lock system instead.
On the 9-3 it is a little bit difficult to inspect the fuel lines and their attachment since it is hidden under the rear seat.
It is a cover that can be removed from under the rear seat but even after that cover is removed you need to know what to look for when peaking in under there.
The fix would be to replace the whole fuel pump assembly so that is a good thing if it is broken since you get a new pump.
