japanese forums have plenty of rants because there are so many japanese owners that even a small percentage will equate to an equivalent volume of unhappy owners in the online forums...where as mentioned earlier people come for advice and help. people have high expectations of these particular cars and get agitated when those expectations aren't met.
for reliability i'd stay away from a new volvo, they quit producing their most reliable motor they ever built in the 90's.
as much as AG is asking about reliability they are wasting their time on this forum if reliability is a serious concern. go toyota, honda, subaru if that's a serious concern. here's the real issue. you're fishing for verbal confidence in this vehicle. so go buy what you want, get the 9-3. unless you're looking to hit 150,000 effortless miles. if you think you'll own your next vehicle for a long time and high miles then i'd advise you to consider something else.
