"Can't I go to a spa?" said my wife... When we were in Trollhattan checking out the European delivery experience, courtesy of Saab for winning the European deliver sales constest in 2003, any way my wife wasn't to crazy about the prospect of going on the factory tour. She told me this was Sweden and couldn't she get a Swedish massage instead? I dragged her along anyway and she loved it. Guys are used to seeing machines, but the ladies were transfixed at the robots welding and doing their dances and such. The Saab Museum is worth a look too with many unique automobiles of interest to all. Near the museum are the shipping locks in Trollhattan, a fabulous walk among waterfalls and the old and new locks.
You will be a guest of Saab for a night at the Ronnum Manor near the factory which is an elegant, romantic, country manor with a wonderful dinner. If the Ronnum Manor is full or unavailible you might get to stay at the Hotel Eggers about 45 minutes away in Gothenberg. This a charming old hotel right in the heart of Gothenberg walking distance from everything. Actually take a day in Gothernberg to wander and take the canal/harbor tour.
Gothenberg is about 5 hours drive onto the Continent at Malmo across the famous bridge to Copenhagen. Do take in the Tivoli Gardens, Walt Disney's model for Disneyland, except with beer gardens. The resemblance is unmistakeable.
From Copenhagen the entire European continent is a day or so's drive. Go to Paris, or the Alps or wander on down to Tuscany or Venice or the Riviera.
Drop your car back off at Gothenberg, or better still the much closer Bremerhaven if you're on the continent and it will arrive state side in 8-10 weeks.
Financing, but not leasing, is availible through SFSC in all but California. Credit unions have the flexibility to do European delivery loans too and will have a somewhat better rate.
Two of the most memorabl experiences in life are a new car and a European vacation. Taking delivery of your car at the factory and driving in Europe are experiences that last a lifetime. Saves a ton of dough on car rental.
