I drive an OG9-3 so I know there are quite a few differences, but I've personally noticed some significant issues when I use sub-par or off-brand gas. Mileage drops, power drops, the car just seems less spunky. The 9-3SS might be less susceptable to these differences, but given the turbo and the closely derived engine management it's not an apple/orange issue. Gas in Europe is ALL high octane, and while America and consequently our gas are important to Saab, it's still a European car at heart. Keep that in mind and suck up the extra few dollars. I know it hurts these days (trust me I'm in school), but the difference really warrants using premium.
