Do a search for TEL1 and TEL2.

TEL1 means you have the h/f harness that is now an option in the 2005's. With this harness you can easily fit a h/f kit from Nokia, Motorala, etc and it will mute the EHU and display TELEPHONE when the kit is in use. It doesn't allow use of steering wheel controls, or the built in mic I don't think.

TEL2 is an option in most other parts of the world except the U.S. that allows the installation of a quite expensive option that enables all the capabilities of the built-in controls. The unit is a GSM/GPRS mobile device that also supports Bluetooth. If you have OnStar, it takes the place of this actually useful device. If you don't have OnStar then there's no reason that you shouldn't be able to install this device other than GM's disbelief that people are actually using GSM/GPRS in the states, when in fact I myself have been using it for about 2 years now, and the service and coverage just keeps getting better. This unit requires the use of a SIM card, and many have said that they have to have multiple numbers to make this work as the phone companies are not willing to give out duplicate SIM cards (like a duplicate of the one in the phone you carry on your person). Once you have TEL2 installed you can actually sync phone numbers with the in-car phone through bluetooth. Sounds great. We are DENIED this really useful safety feature. Apparently it would cost us close to $1500 when I did the conversion from what people in Australia were paying for it.

Acura, BMW, Lexus, everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon to offer these capabilities in their newest cars. I don't really blame SAAB, I blame GM - they have no vision or really clue what they have to do to be competitive in today's marketplace.

Ask me how I really feel.
