I trust the computer more than the odometer

The odometer reading fails to take into account the driving cycles. Many short cycles in cold weather? Pulling a trailer over the mountain? Easy speed-legal expressway miles across Kansas in the springtime? The computer calculates all of that, ticking off quality points until it reaches zero and lights the light. The odo just clicks along.
Too many miles? Well for one, the 9-3SS holds 6 or 7 quarts of oil, versus say 5 quarts for the 9-5. For another, every drop of old oil can drain from the engine, versus a quart that stays in the oil cooler of a 9-5. For a third, the 9-3 specifies oil of the highest quality - fully synthetic oil meeting a GM long life spec in addition to the usual API and ACEA ratings. The 9-5 specifies oil meeting API SL or ACEA A3/B3 specs, the former so lax that conventional oil can meet them.
That said, if it were my car, during the "free maintenance" period I would go ahead and do an additional change when the "quality" readout hits 50% - taking it to the dealer for the paid-up change at 0%. After that, I'd pick a nummber I was comfortable with - 35% comes to mind, at which time I'd change oil and reset the counter.
