My greatest fear when the 9-3SS was introduced was that somehow a new model with even more GM parts wouldn't measure up in quality. I was very relieved to see the first 9-3 Linears. In retrospect the first crop of 2003 launch package Linears were a very sweet car with a deluxe helping of options and features not availible on susequent Linears. The paint, fit, finish, plastic and leather seem to be as good as any car from Trollhattan. In the past 3 years the cars have been remarkeably durable, very few actual mechanical issues vs software glitches, and lately not a peep from anywone.
