My Tire Jack Broke in Two!!!

Hey all,
Anyone have any experience with their tire jack failing under routine usage? Maybe more importantly, anyone have experience getting their dealer to replace it under warrantee?...
I had to fix a flat a couple weeks back (in the rain, no less) and during the process, the plastic/composite top piece that connects the scisser assembly broke at 3 of the 4 rivet points. This occurred with almost no warning on a fairly level hard blacktop surface. I was barely able to snug 3 lug nuts before the thing completely collapsed!
Yes, I have used this jack in concert with a floor jack to rotate my tires a couple times, but there were no unusual circumstances that should have contributed to a failure like this. After all, I've been using the stock jack on my Volvo 740 for almost 15 years to do this same procedure without a problem.
Anyway, just curious if I'm going to have a hard time with the dealer. I have a small hydraulic jack that I can keep in my trunk until this gets resolved.
Thanks for any feedback.
