I'll keep that in mind. One thing I forgot to mention in my first post: The day before I had my gearbox failure, I was sitting at a red light. All of a sudden my car alarm went off-my horn started honking, lights flashing, the whole deal. I hadn't touched anything, the alarm just went off. About 10 seconds later, it stopped, and I got the message that the car alarm had been activated. It was a little disconcerting. The people in the cars around me gave me some odd looks. Anyway, as may or may not be obvious, I know next to nothing about the mechanical workings of cars. Could all of these problems have been caused by a weak battery? As an aside, I see that there are other "Toms" on this board, so in the future I will post as "TomR," for what it's worth.
