IMHO 9-3SS great competitor....... The 9-3SS out does the 3-series in many statistical categories like room, handling, fuel economy, quality, price. You may have some personal issues with the interior design as many old time Saab folks do, myself included, but the public reaction is very positive to the interior and especially positive to the exterior styling. The seats have gotten generally rave reviews in the press, but you personally didn't like them. Many customers shopping the 9-3SS vs. the competition make unsolicited remarks on the excellent seat comfort. BMW bias is nothing new in Saab land. BMW prejudice is a cornerstone of Saab sales. The 9-3SS has brought a whole new wave of cross shoppers to Saab. When the Arc and Vector arrive in March the complete line will make serious inroads into BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Volvo market share. I'm sure Saab will provide programs to make Saabs ultra-competitive in pricing and value too as they've done all along. Incentives are already in place on the 9-3SS. Up to $2,000 in factory cash is availible now and the ad lease of $349 on a $30,815 vehicle is excellent too. The future's looking so bright I may need some shades.
Your personal likes and dislikes are well thought out and expressed and I even agree somewhat, but they're just your preferences. I don't ever expect Saab to outsell BMW, but Saab has never been this directly competitive and in many objective categories clearly out performs all competitors. If Chris Bangle gets ahold of the 3 series we may yet outsell BMW.
