I've driven an 05 Aero 2.0T 6-speed and an 05 Subaru GT 5-speed. I haven't tried the new V6 Aero. The Subaru is fast with 250hp and 250lb/ft torque but it's a bit peaky. It would likely run the Aero's V6 close and it beats the 2.0T. It only has a 5-speed but needs a 6-speed to get revs down on the highway. Gearing is fairly low and you hear the boxer engine droning. The clutch is smooth and the shifter has nice, short throws. The ride is quieter and cushier than the Aero's. I preferred the Aero's interior. The Subaru looked a bit tarted-up inside. The Aero's seats are better but I preferred the driving position in the Subaru. I'd say the Aero is tilted more towards the sport end of the sport sedan spectrum and the Subaru is tilted towards the sedan end but it's fast. The Subaru looks like more car for the money since it undercuts the Aero and includes AWD.
