My wife and I drove the same car today!..... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Drove a 2.0 T SportCombi compared w/ '04 9-3 Linear, Caarma ![]() ![]() |
I agree with most of your observations. I don't like the stupid air bag light, and the radio nearly requires a full-time co-pilot just to operate it!
It does look more like a station wagon in person, but my wife (who hates station wagons) loved the car. I am not fond of the wide band of chrome going across the rear hatch - looks like a Chevy design cue. Rear hatch area is small (enhanced audio results in loss of one rear under floor compartment to the sub-woofer amplifier, which looks as if its placement was an afterthought) but is still very usable. I didn't notice any excessive noise in the passenger compartment.
Since that car is supposedly the only one in Michigan, and my wife hated the red, we will probably order one next month for a spring '06 delivery (quoted 12 week lead time) equipped as she wants it. She loved the way it drove, said it drove just like my 9-5, but is not fond of the manu-matic transmission. I drove it in the manual mode was was very unimpressed.
Do any 9-3SS owners like way the manu-matic operates in manual mode? It seemed as if the tranny would delay upshifting until 2 or 3 seconds after I pushed the shift lever forward. Maybe it was this particular car, maybe it is a design flaw. either way, it is far too easy to accidentally push the lever from full auto to manu-matic, and vice versa.
Looks like we will be Sport-Combi owners in the Spring!
