Offset and interchangibility..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Wheel/HUB "?" on my 93`s- maybe Mike Lynch can answer>, JackO, Mon, 21 Nov 2005 14:01:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The hub and bolt pattern for NG900- OG9-3, 9-3SS and 9-5 are all compatible, but there are slightly different offsets. The 9-3SS has wheels that are 10mm more positive offset, so that when you put 9-3SS wheels on a OG9-3 or 9-5 they stick out a tad and that's fine. Lot's of folks have done this. I have 9-3SS 15" wheels on my '95 900S. Now when you put OG9-3 wheels on a 9-3SS they're a little sucked in, but seem to clear OK. See the pic of 9-5 10-spoke 16's on a 9-3SS. So it's probably a good idea to check the clearances at each lock of the steering and not assume they'll clear chains or cables.
Now aftermarket wheels "EVOS", I'm not sure even though they may come from the factory, are often the greater 10mm offset of the 9-3SS. That is many of the aftermarket 17's I've seen that are factory Saab accessory wheels have the greater offset consistent with a 9-3SS and not the OG9-3 they were sold to fit. I know this because I've have to trim some inner fender linings to make them fit.
So the wheels you have might fit perfectly or at worst be ever so slightly sucked in offset wise.
